Google is the search engine we all know well and love. Need to find some information, a new product, or recipe? We just Google it. In fact, there are over 70,000 Google searches every second. So in this blog I am going to share how to get started with Google Ads for your business. 

 

What are Google Ads? (PPC – Pay per click)

If you have a business that needs some more traffic, have you taken advantage of using Google ads yet? For those that might not know, Google Ads is an online advertising platform developed by the one and only… Google.

Advertisers & business owners can ‘bid’ to display their brief advertisements, service offerings and product listings to people searching the web, for specific keywords.

The great part is your ads are created so that you are targeting people who are searching for keywords that relate to your ad (we’ll dive more into this).

So not only are you gaining the best possible reach online, you’re gaining that reach from people who are mostly relevant and will actually buy from you.

5 Tips Before You Start your Google Ads

 

1 Set Goals – What do you want to achieve with your Google Ads campaigns?

Some goals might include:

  1. Increasing your website traffic
  2. Gaining more brand awareness and reach
  3. Increase your enquiries
  4. Increasing your business sales.

 

2 Research – Research and understand the buying journey of your ideal client. Are they searching for solutions on Google?

If it was you in your potential clients’ shoes, what would you be searching? If you’re in a competitive market, try also researching terms related to your business and see what comes up on Google. This is also a good time to see what kind of ad campaigns your competitors might have.

 

3 Keywords – Use the Google Keywords Planner Tool inside Google Ads to research the best search terms and keywords.

To get the best result in your ads, you need to do some research on the keywords you’re using to see if they are worth including in your google ad campaign. When I say worth, I mean how much is the ‘cost per click’ and does the keyword get much traffic? Some of the high traffic keywords can be quite expensive so it’s good to find a happy medium that fits your budget.

Two of the keyword research tools I recommend are:

  1. Google keyword planner – which is through the Google ads platform
  2. Ubersuggest – An effective research tool designed by Neil Patel.

 

4 Landing Page & Thank You Page – Build a landing page that is hyper tailored to your ideal client and includes testimonials, their pain points and the solution that you offer.

You will also need to build a thank you page to re-direct the user to after they have done what you want them to do on your landing page e.g. submit an enquiry. You can then track how many users visited the landing page which will indicate how many leads you have generated through your Google Ads campaigns.

 

5 CTA – Have a clear Call To Action on your landing page. What do you want them to do?

Think back to your goals, depending on what you want out of your google ads campaign will determine your CTA. 

Do you want visitors to:

– Submit an enquiry via a contact form?

– Purchase a particular product (based on their search)

– Call or email you for a service

– Book an appointment etc.
