Marketing a HR Consultancy

To effectively market a HR Consultancy, it requires a solid marketing strategy to lay the foundations to building a successful business. Posting on social media alone is not enough.

In this case study I will share how working with Rob at Raw HR has helped him to increase his business leads by 40% and he has subsequently merged with another HR firm to offer an even wider range of services.

About Raw HR

Rob Sheppard is the Director at Raw HR. He set up RAW Human Resources because he wanted to apply what he’d learned in big businesses to help small and medium-sized businesses maximise their most important asset: their teams.

RAW means down-to-earth, no-nonsense and simple, and also stands for ready, able and willing.
Because Rob believes that good quality HR practices enable your team to be ready, able and willing to help your business thrive.

Rob has recently merged with another IT firm to launch Quantum Human Resources.

Marketing challenges

“I engaged Vanessa and Vivacity Marketing to specifically to build a marketing strategy and plan, and to hold me accountable and provide marketing coaching to ensure I implemented the marketing strategy and plan to get the best return. ”  Rob Sheppard, Director Raw HR.

Rob had previously built a website, built a small email list and was getting some work through referrals. But he knew he needed to do more than this and get help with her marketing to really propel the business to success.

Our marketing approach to this HR Consultancy

We had a three pronged approach to working with Rob and his business:

1. Start with a Marketing Strategy & Plan

The starting point was to do a full marketing strategy and plan for the next 12 months for Raw HR. This included doing market research with their existing client base and with some potential new clients to uncover their point of difference, core message, ideal client profile and content and marketing plan.

2. Website Audit

We also did a full website audit on their existing website and outlined numerous enhancements that would be made to improve user experience, capture email addresses, and become an information hub for clients and potential clients.

3. Marketing Coaching to implement the plan

Then for a full year after we had built the strategy and plan, I did marketing coaching with Rob to ensure that he was actioning and implementing the plan. Providing guidance and tips on business networking, SEO, LinkedIn, email marketing, strategic partner focuses and the breadth of services offered by the business.

The benefits of marketing coaching

“Every business will be different with their marketing needs, but having a sounding board and knowledgeable marketing guide to help us establish our position in a crowded market place, has been hugely beneficial. And has set groundwork as to where we are headed in the next year. ” Rob Sheppard, Director Raw HR

The results – 40% increase leads

  1. Increased their social media presence, content, connections and engagement on LinkedIn in particular which has helped to deliver a 40% increase on leads for our business.
  2. And through building a marketing strategy and plan for the business this has led to Raw HR merging with another HR company to form, Quantum Human Resources, due to the fact that they started off as strategic partners and decided to join forces which will increase revenue and services offered.

If you are willing to invest the time, money and effort into marketing a professional services business such as this HR Consultancy, the results will follow.
